* Arabians and Semites are historically the same people. Arabia was and still the only exclusive Semitic region. The most Archaic and pure Semitic dialects are still spoken in the Arabian peninsula.
The greatest Arabian Semitic civilzations flourished in the fertile crescent, but the origins were in the desert. The desert region was the only region that was able to buildup massive tribal federations that had no home to stay for and no land to take care of, thus they invaded the fertile crescent and established the ancient Arabian presence in Mesopotamia.
The Semitic religions are the collective fruits of the thousands of years of dwelling the deserts. Farmers and city dwellers didn't have time to communicate with GOD and recieve his orders :)
Mesopotamia was Sumerian in the south and Hurrian in the north before the Arabian invasion in the middle of the 3rd Millenia BC.
